Hey D-Rail remember the cracking we saw of the frames coating on mine when it was just a month old - looks like some major stress's on front frame section. Not my FJ one of the guys from AZFJ - http://www.fjcruiserforums.com/forums/m ... frame.html I broke my frame! I know fender rips and tears are all the fad, but how about this... I tore my frame! Passenger side right next to where the motor mount ties into the frame... hard to see from the pics, but the frame is sheared through such that the motor mount arm thingy is no longer attached to anything... Toyota refuses to warranty it, but the R&D people want the frame so the entire frame is being replaced at no cost to me. I'm hoping to get a lot of REALLY cool pics as they perform the labor of replacing the frame... since they'll be ripping the body and drivetrain out. Should be interesting. I'll take requests if anybody wants a picture of anything specific that might be better seen with the body off, etc. EDIT: There wasn't any one incident that caused this... it happened slowly over the course of about a month and several different trail runs. The symptoms were consistent with a broken motor mount (excessive engine movement). I assumed it was a broken motor mount and took it to the dealership... they called me back with something like 'uhhh, I think you better come take a look at this. |

Wow!! I've ripped brackets off both the front and rear axles on my Jeep, but nothing with the frame. It is still intact. I'm really surprised they weren't going to fix or replace the frame to begin with. Its like they were saying FJ's shouldn't be wheeled or something. Way to stand behind your products guys!! Glad to hear that guy is getting it taken care of though. That's really fortunate for his sake!! |

The FJ Cruisers problems with failing frames, inner fenders, R&Ps ect. Is bad enough but only made worse by Toyota Corp actions or non-action delay tactics. Been waiting since Oct 15th 2007 on mine. |

Been waiting since Oct 15th 2007 on mine. Think: Ford Pinto. Cheaper to ignore the problem. Bonus advice from the lawyers probably suggests that since few if any people are getting killed because of the defect, why bother to fix it unless Big Brother orders you? |

Well Toyota Corporate is Not going to back their product or honor the warranty on my FJ Cruiser - excuse is that it's lifted & it's a user issue not a product/design problem. Hell will freeze over before I buy another Toyota product. My web page dedicated to the FJ Cruiser that I'm just starting. http://rides.webshots.com/album/569086712jgHQHb Plus YouTube Video from yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QIHk8zrjiNo |

show them all the commercials with the FJs tearing through the outdoors. and then serve them papers. I think if you spend $25,000+ on a vehicle they oughtta kiss your bleep. especially if the frame fails. do they seriously have to wait until someone dies from a frame failure? |

It looks like its going to take someone getting mauled or killed for these issues to get the press they deserve. |

It is a shame that Toyota won't do right. Would anything like the Lemon Law be of any help??? |

Call John Ensign's office. At the very least they can do some research on the issue for you and get back to you on IF and how you can potentially proceed. I saw cal lhim because this could be a federal issue, especially if all FJs have the same problem. |

Thanks - another suggestion I was pm'd on a FJ board was this http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/complaints/ Turns out I did this ages ago, hasn't injured or killed people yet. |

All I can say is that I'm really glad I held out on buying one of these. When they first came out, I really looked into getting one (due to the old FJ's track record) but decided to hold out till I heard some feed back. It wasn't long after they were out I heard of the frame/front support issues from others. Guess I'll be sticking with my 30+ year old hunk of iron. |
